Help answer the question about medical insurance

How to take medical insurance for foreigners in short term visa in Japan?
My mother in law is here in Japan on a short term visa(3 months). She had sprained her hand in India while coming here and is bothering her a lot. We heard that it would be very costly in the hospitals without medical insurance. As she might need to take xray and other medicines. We would like to know how we can take medical insurance for foreign nationals on short term visa in Japan. I thank u in advance for answering my query.

a quick answer to this question is to check with your states insurance department (the department that writes all the rule and regs) and ask them what programs are avaliable.. there should be a CHIP program avaliable.

see the florida link attached, browse around it and see if you can find information (at least a contact to help you)

I would call the several dentist offices. Many have ways of setting up a payment plan.

Personally I do not see this as a normal behavior as a 14 yr old. If she is not understanding of the condition of her father but understanding herself and what she wants to do then i must say that that is very cold hearted. She must not understand the way some things go because of the separation of her parents marriage? I must say if my parents were separated I would feel so horrible and it would've stayed stuck in my childhood memory. I feel so sorry for your brother right now.Its sickening and upsetting what selfish children would do.But id doctors say that she is suffering from some type of illness then that would be more than likely true. I suggest that she stay and let her father get treated and while shes there she might as well see a specialist.

you will lose some money, but yes, you can cancel. call them immediately.

She can get medicaid or some form of it, depending on how much money she makes. She needs to look into that asap. She can also get WIC. I have a ton of info regarding that in the link below.

I don't think she can go after the dad.. I'm married to an immigrant and I'm pretty sure it's mostly impossible.

The only thing he can do is file a no fault divorce stating irreconcilable differences (the only other option is a fault divorce and the only allowed reason is mental incapacity which you have to prove)
If he can provide the judge some type of proof of her drug abuse, anything like pictures of her, witnesses to drug purchases, etc. then there is no way a judge would make him pay alimony, medical insurance, etc.
No, its not true. She really has no leg to stand on, especially since they've been separated for so long and because of her actions – she cannot ruin him at all. He's got the upper hand here.

I've searched through the literature I have, am a nursing student, and cannot find a reason for using heparin. Anemias from what I understand are a decrease or loss of red blood cells. Since during sickle cell anemia the red blood cells collapse on themselves because of the inability to carry oxygen, I would hypothesize that giving heparin to someone in that state could cause hemorrhage. During a sickle cell crisis the sickled red blood cells will accumulate in the joints and intersecting pathways of the body where they clump up and cause a lot of inflammation and pain. Death can result from one of these episodes and most patients are very fragile during this time.
They will give blood transfusions during a crisis so I don't see how thinning the blood would be helpful if they are trying to replace the lost efficiency of the red blood cells to carry oxygen. Because oxygen depletion is common they will become hypoxic. Meaning they can turn blue, they will gasp for air, dizziness, and basically act as someone drowning due to lack of oxygen. Because hypovolemia (loss of blood volume) occurs I would think that giving blood thinners would further potentiate this effect. I am not sure the laws of Florida. I do know that it is up to Law Enforcement to give a thorough investigation when wrongdoing is suspected. The other thing to do if they won't is contact the life insurance company because if they can prove wrongdoing existed they will go on with an investigation and hand over evidence to law enforcement. Basically if they don't have to pay they won't and they like to find ways not to.

The effects of heparin can be:
hematoma, heparin induced thrombocytopenia, pain, erythema, injection site ulcer, thrombosis, hemorrhage, increased liver aminotransferase level, anaphylaxis, immune hypersensitivity reaction, and osteroporosis with long term high dose administration.

So it could be wrong doing, I would hope and pray to God that considering she is an LPN and agrees to live and practice ethically and to never bring harm that there is a logical explanation. At this point without further information though, I wouldn't know. Unless he was going to have abdominal surgery or knee replacement surgery I am not sure why they would give him heparin, there is so many other anticoagulants that are much safer and preferred. There also was heparin that was recalled lately because it did kill people because of the illegal ingredients added in China. I hope this helps somewhat. Good luck and I will keep you all in my prayers that they do an autopsy and find out what really happened. My advice is to never stop searching for answers and express your concerns wholeheartedly with the police.

If someone were to die from an overdose of Heparin they would bleed to death. I am not aware of any state that requires an autopsy of every person who dies. Obviously if the wife tried to refuse an autopsy one is being done. This means either was not under the care of a physician at the time of death or a problem is suspected.

Yep, he's probably not going to find anyone to sell him a REAL policy, anyway, privately. Although someone is probably going to offer to sell you a "plan".

Assuming he's got stuff he needs to get checked out, or work done, those are "preexisting conditions" and not covered anyway.

Insurance is done on a state by state basis. That "different location" likely he wouldn't be covered in, depending on where it is.

He can TRY with a local, independent agent. But I"m guessing, as a traveling entertainer or whatever, and only here on a VISA, he's not going to get anyone wanting to cover him.

You might want to see if your county mental health department has any suggestions. Look in the phone book, and see if you can find their number.

My guess is that they would be fairly aware of what sort of resources are out there, and could provide you with some possibilities to think about ??

And you are right : if she needs meds, there are programs that help you get them for free, if you don't have the money.

One other thing you might try is looking for the Bipolar advocacy group on Google. I bet you almost anything that there is one, and they also might be able to point you in some productive directions.

And yes : Having no idea where to start is not a good feeling, I know. If you can give the county folks a call……you are bound to feel a little better, simply from taking a step.
